Accelerating the Healthcare Revolution Through Philanthropy

Reflecting on a year of impactful generosity

Reflecting on a year that continued to challenge each and all of us, the unstoppable generosity of our community was, as always, a constant source of inspiration, energy – and impact. We are proud to report that 2021/2022 was the most successful fundraising year ever for our Foundation, with $22.2 million in funds raised. This is a powerful testament to how passionately our community believes in the work and mission of Women’s College Hospital.

Throughout the year, our community came together with greater focus and determination than ever before to engage in conversations about women’s health and health equity, to advocate for change, and to raise funds to help revolutionize the future of healthcare.

A tremendous highlight was a historic $3.8 million transformational gift from The Association of Volunteers of Women’s College Hospital, with the estate of long-time volunteer Maureen Green, which will establish a world class Chair in Health Equity at WCH, in partnership with the University of Toronto.

Our transformational giving continues to grow, attracting several six and seven figure gifts, including a $2 million community matching gift from FDC Foundation towards the purchase of state-of-the-art breast imaging equipment to arrive next year.

Through our Emily Stowe Society, our donors opened doors to career advancement for women leading cutting-edge science to address inequities in healthcare, our monthly donors have doubled in size since 2019 and our steadfast community of annual donors grew exponentially – all providing invaluable funds for our Hospital and Foundation’s most urgent needs.

Together, we are creating real, tangible change – not only for people and communities, but for the health system as a whole. We thank our donor community for their generosity, conviction and passion. Together, we are accelerating our healthcare revolution for a healthier, more equitable world.
